A great day was had by all at Future Stars.
There were Christmas cards from supporters in England, plenty of special food and drinks, dancing, laughter, and lots of smiles. The children all wore their best clothing and looked so smart.
For many of the children, today was the very first time they had recieved a Christmas card addressed just for them. The joy they expressed was touching, as they spoke of their amazement that people ‘on the other side of the world’ were thinking of them on Christmas Day.
Christmas also provided an opportunity for some new faces to experience life at the centre. The children who have been accepted to the free primary school were all invited to join the day’s celebrations. They will start school when the new school year begins in January. Watch out for them, all looking out for a special person to support them through sponsorship.
Christmas at Future Stars is always an opportunity to make the children feel cherished. Without the celebrations at the centre, most of these children would be spending Christmas Day in much the same way as every other day. There would be no Christmas dinner, no gifts, cards, or dancing. But today those children were able to spend the day at Future Stars, enjoying Christmas as every child should.
I know that many of you will have thought, just for a moment perhaps, of these special children who deserve all the fun and excitement we often take for granted in our own lives.
Huge thanks go out to everyone who made this special day possible.
Merry Christmas to all Chaffinch Supporters – from the trustees, from the staff at Future Stars, and from all the children who benefitted from your generosity.
We hope you enjoy this summary video of the day.
